The end
The Owl had been trying to hunt Little Pig down... but mistook him for a person when he saw him standing up!
The poor bird was puzzled wondering how a four-legged dinner had gotten away from him! |

The end
Not wanting the Owl to fly away like that... Little Pig hollered with all his might: "Hey, you, come here!"
When the Owl heard this, his wings froze in mid-flight. |
2 |
He thought, "Where in the world are people seen talking with chatty owls?"
If someone ever did surprise a talking owl, they'd probably take him to television, or to a circus. |
3 |
Before getting away, though, and scared stiff… he heard the same voice saying:
"I'm the Little Pig you're looking for!"
Little Pig was hoping the Owl would forget about having him for dinner if they could talk. No one eats someone that you can have a conversation with.
And that's how the Owl and Little Pig became friends. |
4 |
The Owl talked and talked about all the wonderful things one could see in the City... and especially went on and on to describe to Little Pig just how delicious beetle ice cream was.
Yuck! Little Pig had never eaten ice cream... nor did he know what airplanes were, or vacuum cleaners, boats, telephones, and so many other things. That's why he was spellbound by everything the Owl told him. |
5 |
On and on went the Owl. He talked and talked so much... that one day...
the two of them, Little Pig and the Owl, came up with the idea of dressing like people to go visit the City. |
6 |
On the journey they met many dangers...
Country folk were not polite chasing them off their property...
Cars and trucks were like loud monsters trying to swallow them... |
7 |
When they reached the City it was a holiday and they got lost in the noisy crowd...
no one paid any attention to them as they walked around.
They went all over the place until they finally bumped into an ice cream stand.
That's when they thought their wish would come true! |

Little Pig was really excited when he said to the ice cream man:
"I want an ice cream for myself and another for my friend."
"What flavor do you want, kids?", answered the ice cream man.
And he added: "Look at the list... there you have them all." |
9 |
But neither of them knew how to read... Little Pig was about to point to an ice cream with many colors, but stopped himself in time...
Anyone could recognize a pig's hoof!
The Owl quickly took over by asking:
"And what flavors do you have?" |
10 |
The man rattled off the list he knew by memory... “I have banana, lemon, coconut, chocolate, vainilla, hazelnut, strawberry, coffee and raisin walnut."
"Oh my! No beetle ice cream for me! ", thought the Owl to himself, not hearing what he wanted to hear.
"OK... give us two chocolate ice cream cones" - said Little Pig, seeing that the man was getting impatient. |
11 |
The ice cream man was indeed starting to grunt. When he was ready to hand them the ice cream he asked for three dollars.
Little Pig and the Owl looked at each other trying to understand, and asked:
"What's that?"
The man could tell they didn't have any money, and angrily told them to come back for ice cream when they had the money. |
12 |
Later on they found a park. They were happy even though they had not eaten ice cream. No one had realized that they were a little pig and an owl!
They were thinking there was little more to learn if they wanted to live among people.
Little Pig even started to dream about someday owning a little house. |
