THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
The end
Many years ago, among the thousands of cocoons of the birch tree, many white butterflies were born, and very few black ones. There were people there, too, but being nearsighted, they couldn't see the butterflies at all. 1
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
In their innocence, the white butterflies believed that Mother Nature had created a whole Universe full of birch trees, just for them. They didn't realize that they shared the World with others. 2
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
In their ignorance, the white butterflies believed that Mother Nature had painted the trunk of the birches white only to protect them from a certain death that came dressed as a bird. They also ignored the fact that the World was getting filled with men and women that needed more and more space 3
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
They thought they weren't anything like their black sisters who quickly fell into the claws of the exterminator bird. They also didn't know they could become victims of fire. 4
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
Because of the birds, and because very few black butterflies were born, there were hardly any left. Besides, you can't always prevent disaster. 5
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
So even though the white butterflies were wrong about things, everything seemed to make them very proud. What they didn't realize was that their numbers were dwindling while people were taking up more and more space. 6
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
The truth is that their pride didn't allow them to mingle with butterflies of other colors. As time passed, villages grew bigger and bigger. 7
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
Much later, factories were built, and the smoke coming from the rooftops darkened the trunks of the birch trees. 8
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
That was when the black sisters of the white butterflies thought, in their ignorance, that Mother Nature was changing the birch tree trunks' color to save them from the claws of the exterminator bird. Meanwhile, people invented all kinds of machines and kept sending smoke out of their chimneys 9
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
And the black butterflies became very proud and they never wanted to get together with the white ones. Towns were becoming cities, and the butterflies' forests were getting smaller and smaller. 10
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
The truth is, from that moment on, of the thousands of cocoons of the birch tree many more black butterflies were born, and very few white ones.   11
THE PRIDE OF THE BUTTERFLIES
And really, Mother Nature doesn't care if butterflies are white or black... it's just plain that she loves the butterflies of the birch trees! 12
